Innocent?
When I leave the house at 6:30 in the morning, this is what I'm leaving behind.
Isn't this just the sweetest picture of innocence there is?
Well, apparently, sweet and innocent are also vocal and loud. Yes, we had a taste of spring last week and the squirrels stirred from their nests. Much to the dismay of the neighbors. Between the hours of 7:00 am and 10:00 am is when squirrel fest takes place, and of course, being beagles, Pearl and Boogalu have to join in. Loudly. So we went to PetSmart and purchased Sonic Bark Collars. The small-scale test on Saturday seemed to work. Boogalu likes barking at Chopper the next door dog and he got "beeped" and he shut up. We'll see. Monday morning is the test.

We stayed away from the "static" or shock collar. I'm hoping the beep or sound will be enough. Jim and I were using police whistles when we were home and it was quite effective. But of course, that's when we're home. I couldn't believe how expensive the citronella collars were! And we remembered that they would bark through it and empty the chamber. I think we're going to explore some means of keeping the squirrels away (or more distant) as well. We'll see.
